Jason Kwok

Hey there! My name is Jason, a first year studying medicine and I am standing to be your Vice President!

Growing up in Hong Kong, I’ve really enjoyed playing mahjong with family and friends. Despite having moved here for a couple years, my love for mahjong has never dwindled. Although we have distinct cultures, to my surprise the locals are pretty enthused about this and so it was really fun teaching them! Therefore, I would like to take up a position to promote this culture to others. I aim to organise weekly socials, taster sessions and teaching sessions for newcomers and beginners. I also wish to see more diversity in the upcoming year, and to foster a harmonious environment where members can learn, share and bond together! For example, apart from mahjong, we can also bring back hot pot socials as seen from previous years. I also liked the notion of inter-uni tournaments and I hope to preserve this in the future and to collaborate with more societies!

Having past experiences as a mentor, founder of a society and a prefect in sixth form, I believe I possess the necessary skills to bring forward for the society, eg. time management, leadership, and communication. Perhaps I am not the most experienced mahjong player, but I am certainly very keen on the game. If elected, I shall do all I can to help the society flourish!
