Lacrosse Club: Vice President

Over the last year, lacrosse has very much become a massive part of my life, having played for both the Women’s 2s and the mixed team I feel that I have been able to demonstrate my commitment to the sport while also being able to build good relations with the rest of the club members.  For this reason, I feel that I am an organised and approachable person who would absolutely love the opportunity to be Vice President.

I hope to continue to bring a dedicated, enthusiastic, and positive atmosphere to lacrosse and am willing to assist the President and rest of committee to achieve our goals as a club so that we can continue to strive for success together.

Hi I’m Maia! Lacrosse has been a major part of my UCL life: as a dedicated member of the 1s, I’ve consistently attended weekly socials, practices and every match. This year I have felt incredibly welcomed by the society, and I would love the opportunity to maintain that same inclusive atmosphere next year as Vice-President. I recognise the commitment this position brings, but I strongly believe that I have the drive, organisation and creativity to successfully fulfil the role. 

My main goal is club integration: I plan to coordinate with committee members to run lacrosse and non-lacrosse events. For example, mixed lacrosse tournaments to introduce freshers and more team-bonding socials like team meals and the early re-instigation of lacrosse families. As for Wednesday socials, I will be there each week, and will actively encourage more 1s and freshers to come too. This position includes social media and I will upgrade our Instagram by including more match footage, besides team pictures and the promotion of events/charities. For the more social side of the club, I want to highlight the best dressed each sports night so that the funniest outfits can get deserving fame. Tour and merch are some of the best bits about being part of lacrosse besides obviously playing the sport and I would work hard to make these incredible next year. I want to encourage contribution from members on what they want, but I definitely think matching backpacks and personalized jerseys.
