Ari Smart

As someone who has an appreciation for all things design and creativity, I would love to be a part of the committee as publicity officer! My main focus in this role would be to ensure content is both aesthetically pleasing and engaging, and utilise social media as a way for members of the society to interact with the committee and establish a strong community essence. After designing several posters and merch for fan club events, as well as managing the instagram and facebook for the bubble tea shop I work at, I am comfortable and experienced using photoshop and canva to create pretty and eye catching designs whilst keeping them informative.

Some of the ideas I have for next year include:

- Having a studio choom inspired 'Member of the month' instagram highlight, where each month a member of the society has the opportunity for their talents to be showcased.

- Designing unique kpop inspired promotional material for events (eg. showcases) such as cupsleeves.

- Posting more Q+A/ interactive poll stories.

This society is my favourite by far, so I really want to be a part of the committee next year as publicity officer and dedicate my time to making super cool content! I think I would be a good fit for this position and if given the opportunity to fulfil this rewarding role, I believe I would really contribute to the amazing committee and I will always make sure to do my very best for the society (´。• ω •。`).

Elizabeth Sahadevan

I have a genuine interest for graphic design and I feel as though this role would be a great creative outlet.I’m familiar with canva and often make similar posts for other kpop related content. I believe that I can help to retain the engagement and positive interactions on socials.

Sachi Lad

I'm standing for this role as I’d love to be in charge of publicity for this amazing society!

One of the things that got me to join K-Pop society is the promotions on Instagram; posts for welcome week, story highlights as well as regular posts about events. All of these were marketed really well and was what pushed me join with a full membership. I’m excited for the opportunity to promote this society!

Being publicity officer would mean I would be on the prod team for showcases. I’ve been part of many dance shows in the past, so know how important teamwork, coordination and time management is when producing shows. I think of myself as being good at working in a team, organised and am willing to help with whatever is needed, which are all helpful qualities to have when organising big events. I also respond to messages quickly (always on my phone, but at least I’m quick at replying!), so am easily accessible to anyone who messages me.

In terms of skills, I have previous experience using Canva, so I already know the basics of the platform. I’m a quick learner and doing Computer Science, so will have no problem in learning other editing software.

I realise how challenging it is to be part of a committee, but what better committee to be on than one where we all enjoy the same thing! If I do get this role, I aim to create more amazing content to promote K-Pop society as best as I can!

Joy Wong

I have always had a huge passion for art and design and wanted to pursue it more as an interest. I believe that this would be a wonderful chance for me to share my ideas and thoughts to the public through creating different visuals and hopefully give them some positive insights into Korean culture. I also think that this would be a very rewarding experience for me to bring everyone together through my designs and make a good impression of the K-POP society on the public.

Additionally, I believe that promotions play a huge role in widening event participation by using effective communication that connects the society to target audiences. On the same note, publications provide a window of opportunity to increase engagement of both the members of the public and the society efficiently. As the proposed publicity officer, I look forward in using my skillsets in creative design to reach these goals, and to accurately represent the image of the society.

Dina Moboshir

Hi!! My name is Dina and I am a second-year Population Health student. If elected as Publicity Officer, I promise to create promotional materials that reflect the friendly and welcoming nature of the K-POP society! Although this would be my first time having a role like this, I consider graphic design one of my hobbies and have previously designed merchandise for a charity birthday project.

Aside from designing materials, I intend to continue the society’s tradition of having monthly Spotify playlists by having playlists which reflect the mood of every month or have a specific theme. For instance, a Spring playlist could include songs like ‘200%’ by AKMU whereas a self-love playlist could include ‘One & Only’ by LOONA Gowon. I would include a mixture of popular and less well-known K-POP artists/groups so society members could appreciate and discover new music together! I would also like to increase interaction between the committee and society members and help everyone feel more involved in the society by actively engaging members through Instagram story features such as polls, asking for song recommendations and prompts such as asking members to attach pictures of your favourite photocards!

Overall, I would love to have the chance to create a representation of the UCL K-POP society which is both visually appealing and engaging, and also reflects the fun and inclusive environment the society aims to have! Thank you for your time and consideration :D
