Tanya Gupta

Namaste! I’m Tanya running to be the Finance Officer of IndianSoc. Given the opportunity, I would thoroughly commit myself in positively impacting the wealth of the society. I'm drawn to this role as responsibly sourcing, managing, and allocating funds are undoubtably vital in creating a fantastic IndianSoc experience for the upcoming year, which given my skills and enthusiasm, I am certain I can do.

My experiences cement confidence in my skills to be successful as the Finance Officer:

• An internship at the IEA equipped me in dealing with sizeable responsibility

• The McKinsey Leadership Academy taught me what it means to lead with intention

• SISU at Morgan Stanley and a spring week at Nomura demonstrates finance knowledge

• 2 years of practical experience in dealing with accounts as the Finance Director of a student start-up

As Finance Officer I plan to;

• Generate the best deals with sponsor firms, making events bigger and better by creating an attractive sponsorship package with the Marketing team

• Branch out financial support to a wider variety of events

• Prioritise collaboration over competition with societies to maximise event turn-out and funding

Beyond budgets, resilience and integrity are vital as a Finance Officer, both qualities I pride myself in. Therefore, with this in combination with some fun of course, I believe I would make a great fit for this role!

Rhea Shah

Hi, I’m Rhea and I’m running for finance officer.

As a committed member of Indian society, I believe finance and sponsorship are fundamental parts of running successful large-scale events. Without funding, events would not be possible, and I want to be a part of creating an outstanding and unforgettable experience for the events in the coming year. I believe that my strengths of organisation, communication, and teamwork align well with the qualities for this role.

As a first-year economics student, my long-term aspirations are to work within the finance sector. Having been chosen as finance director for my young enterprise team, worked as a student intern at Lloyds Bank, and attended several networking events, I have been involved in communicating and building relationships with people, which is key to securing deals and sponsors with several businesses. Undertaking these responsibilities has invaluably enhanced my interpersonal skills whilst giving me an appreciation of time management.

Having received sponsorships and brand deals on social media, I do have the experience of liaising with companies and negotiating appropriate contractual agreements, which have been very successful. Fundraising events are a great way to encourage many to participate in our events and raise money for charity. If given this opportunity as finance officer, I aim to bring in more sponsors and maximise our funding, which will allow us to host memorable events for you all.

Mehar Taneja

Hi, I’m Mehar and I’m running for Finance Officer this year.  The role of a Finance Officer is one that requires a strong communicator, to reach out to different sponsors and raise funds for the committee. Having done Finance related internships, I’ve appreciated the importance of maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues and believe that I can bring these skills to the society in order to make everyone’s experience memorable.

Furthermore, having been exposed to various leadership roles in the past, I have been able to develop my leadership and team working skills and has improved my ability to work well under pressure. These skills are essential to a successful finance officer. My aim is to ensure we have maximum funding for all our memorable events next year. I also hope to increase the number of social events and the types of  events we hold so that everyone can enjoy it. Having being a part of committee last year as an FYR, I have understood what is required in order to run the society successfully, alongside the commitment required. I look forward to making sure we all have the best year!

Niharika Mudigonda

Indian society has provided me with a sense of community and was a greatly needed relief from the stress of my studies. At the beginning of the year, I felt displaced and found solace in this society and wish to help other students do the same. I was previously a part of the school council for two years and have developed core skills in communication and organization. In particular, I have experience working closely with my team to make vital changes, such as introducing trousers into a traditional girls' school uniform that hasn't changed for the last 100 years. I have also developed strong leadership and presentation skills by co-founding the economics club in school and have experience leading weekly discussions and presentations. I am currently pursuing an economics degree and am incredibly interested in finance. I am confident these skills will allow me to thrive as a finance officer for Indian society. I am looking forward to developing Indian society further by communicating with external companies and raiding funds. Also, I am excited to contribute to the sponsorship package to help a significant number of students.

Harry Saddi

Hi everyone, I’m Harry and I am a First Year Chemical Engineering student.

Generating deals and creating relationships is what I love to do.

Having the funding to see our ideas become a reality is crucial to the growth of our society and is exactly what I see myself providing as a future Finance Officer. I would love to able to be the medium between seeing our new ideas come into fruition.

Over my year as an Indian Society First Year Representative, I have gotten to experience the skills it takes to build a reliable network of sponsors for a successful society.

Those being:

  • Negotiation
  • Effective time management
  • Analytical thinking
  • Humility and respect

Which are exactly the qualities I believe I stand out in applying for this position, having shown them throughout the year organising amazing events for the society, e.g. Jashn!

In the coming year I want to take the society to new heights, and I believe this is the perfect role to do so. With my previous experience in finance roles in sixth form, I plan to secure some of the biggest sponsors the society has ever previously had. Through the connections I have built, we will see our community shine like never before!

I’m looking forward to working to create a year to remember :)

Vote Harry!
