Hockey Club (Women's): 3XI Captain

I am standing for 3XI Captain as I have had the best year of hockey in the club, and want to make next year even better!

UCLWHC has been a huge part of my university experience so far - I joined the club in September as an unsure fresher, and since then have had the opportunity to play great hockey and make some amazing friends along the way. The 3s team this year has been wonderful; I truly feel as though it has become a hockey family, and it will be fantastic to replicate and build upon that for next year's freshers and returning players. 

I am naturally hard-working, organised, and disciplined (as well as party animal at Scala!!)  and am keen to gain some leadership experience, so what better place to do that in other than hockey?! As captain, I will maintain the supportive and engaging atmosphere we have achieved this year, encouraging all team players to be active on and off the pitch, attend training regularly, and participate in socials - Phineas won't know what's coming when the 3s turn up! I will take every opportunity to foster the team spirit and help team bonding, focusing especially on inter-team socials, collaborating with other captains to really aid integration, and make the club as inclusive and welcoming as possible. 

I am so excited at the prospect of becoming captain - I will do my very best to motivate the team to progress in every way. If you vote for me, I guarantee that we will have another FABULOUS year of hockey! 

Hey, I'm Candice! Joining UCL Hockey this year has been the best experience! Having enjoyed my time on the 3s this year, it is indisputable that this team has so much potential and already carries key values. In the past, I have been part of the 1st XI at KCL (ew), however, this gave me insight into team trainings and how to deal with the pressures of match playing and I would like to apply this insight to UCL’s 3rd team by being their captain.

I believe I could be a good captain because I will ensure that each training session is equipped with the balance of having fun and working hard towards individual and team goals. My own aim as captain will be to use trainings/matches as an opportunity to observe our strengths and weaknesses, and to improve on any areas during training sessions. Trainings will be filled with fun and energetic drills which will ultimately be beneficial to team objectives. I want to create a trusting environment where each member feels as though they are an essential part of hockey, and I will help encourage this by organising team motives on a regular basis. As a Red Bull student marketeer, I will be sponsoring the team and club by providing an unlimited supply of red bull to keep energies up! 

I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my last year at uni than being part of the hockey club. The 3s have come so far this year and I have no doubt that we will continue to strive upwards. Here’s to another successful season!
