Hi! My name is Katy and I’m a first-year History of Art student.

The value of societies in connecting with others cannot be overstated, especially during the pandemic when many lessons are still online. The History of Art Society has a great community, and I want to be Welfare Officer so that everyone can feel a part of that and connect with new people.

Whatever you’re into – be that listening to talks by experts, visiting museums and galleries, meeting other art history enthusiasts, or if you just really like Van Gogh – I want to ensure we have a range of events to suit you.

I believe it is crucial that people feel included and have their voices heard. As Welfare Officer, I would be an approachable first port of call within the society for any questions or concerns. As someone who has struggled with their mental health, I understand how difficult it can be to join in. No one should feel unable to participate due to inaccessibility.

Additionally, I am currently a Digital Content Volunteer at the National Portrait Gallery, and as part of the society’s committee I would like to bring in speakers to talk about the array of lesser-known roles within museums, such as digital content.

Ultimately my main goal is for people to be able to enjoy the society and find a community here :) Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions!
