I am a keen sports player with my main sports being rugby, football, tennis and cricket, which is testament towards my keenness for the role of sports officer. Moreover, I believe my wide range of experience at a high level for all these sports will help enable me to expand the sports played within the society as well as against others. The aims mentioned to add new sporting activities is one that I heavily believe in, but also recognise the existing football team could be much more active through methods such as weekly games played between our own members. I have good organisational skills and organise weekly volunteers for homeless shelters, bakes sales, ect. as part of the law charity society, whilst collaborating with other universities which is why I think I would be a good fit for the role. I have been coaching tennis since the age of 14 which has helped develop a high level of professionalism which I believe to be essential to this role but ultimately it is my love of sports which is the reason why I am standing.
Hindu soc has been one of the many pinnacles of my first year, the vast memories with friends I met through the society has only kept growing and upon potentially gaining a spot on the committee will allow me to contribute my passion for the society by having an influence. The sports director role is the perfect choice for me, as a competitor in many sports I’ve gained the experience and leadership skills required to organise competitions as well as social sessions for Hindu soc. Upon gaining this position I hope to implement new ideas, many include; adding new sports such as badminton, organising competitive and social games with the target of our competitive squads to reach Indian soc nationals, as well as increasing female participation in sports. To increase sport participation within the society I’ll use my platform to reach out to the many sports society’s of UCL, to provide introductions for beginners who haven’t played the sport before in groups of people from the society, as many can find it scary participating in a sport with people they don’t know and aren’t the best at.
I would like to run for the Hindu Society Committee Member because it’s a society I belong to by default. In my first year, I have actively attended their events and resolved to be a bigger part of it in my coming years at university. I believe that this year, I will be able to contribute and maintain the society's legacy with bigger involvement, collaboration and reach to the audience.
I have played basketball, athletics, badminton and table tennis at the state-level in India, and have been passionate about sports ever since I can remember. It’s like my getaway from the world, playing or watching, supporting our teams- FIFA World Cup, NBA, IPL- you name it. I believe I will be the best fit in the society as the sports officer in the Hindu Soc, because in a way, my life simply revolves around it. I remember in my first year, I wanted to have some team sports events to attend and how they are a great way to meet new people and become comfortable to settle down in university. In this role, I will be able to include everyone interested and who may be looking for such activities. I have great ideas planned, but more than that, I promise to keep always keep you on your feet. There’s never going to be a stagnant phase- always something to look forward to. I can make the most out of this role, your vote will go a long way to give me the chance to show you that.
