My name is Taanya - I am a first year Med student applying to be a Sales & Marketing Officer. Sales is an extremely significant part of the successful running of society events and a role which needs a reliable person who is able to connect with a range of people. As an FYR that helped primarily in the Marketing aspect, I have experience in curating posts and corresponding with sponsors in order to promote events efficiently and maximise ticket sales.
I will strive to make sure the events and socials planned are better than ever before, and I believe Sales and Marketing is the key to being able to do this!
I am heavily invested in the events which Hsoc held throughout the year and loved to see and be a part of the vibe that came with it. Both the Garbaa event and Rangeela were two major parts of my first year experience which are some of the main reasons why I am so happy I joined UCL - I was able to meet so many new people who are now my family. I want to help other people in future years and those who are already a part of our society to create similar if not better memories; I want to work with my team to create our own events - ones we will be proud of; I want to throw myself into the behind-the-scenes and actually get involved myself. The marketing and sales position is ideal for me because I love creating posters or videos which are both entertaining and aesthetical - not just as a one off, but I would see it as a challenge to engage with as many people as possible, and then entice them! I’m more of a visual person myself in general and have often taken this approach in all tasks I do (so I will be able to apply this). At the same time, I am also organised and can be conscious with the numbers - I will commit to using all the resources to ensure financial targets are met. Of course, it isn’t simply a single role, but being part of the team, but I am always there to support and share the workload of the people who will fill the other roles, regardless of the task. I cannot wait for what next year’s events bring!
I would like the role of Marketing and Sales Officer because I am excited at the prospect of being a part of an amazing team which I am able to contribute to by leading a specific area to result in a strong and successful society.
My suitability for the role can be defined by my passion for marketing and the experience I have had dealing with it. To name a few examples, I organised one of the biggest events in my secondary school which was a recreation of Dragons’ Den, I was the head of the school’s Jain Society and co-head of the Finance Society. All of these positions required leadership, presentation, teamworking and marketing skills which I feel helped me excel in producing the best outcomes in each situation. Aside from school, I spent some time working in one of the UK’s most prominent advertising agencies, Saatchi & Saatchi. There I was able to learn about professional marketing as well as helping organise video campaigns for the company. In university through my course, I have been able to learn Photoshop which I think would be important in designing posters for the Society. Whilst experience is extremely important, I believe I also have the passion for the role and areas it concerns allowing me to stay consistently invested in the position.
I feel the value I could bring to the Society encompasses teamwork, positivity, and leadership. I would strive to be an integral member of the committee who is active in the team and a strong lead for the role.
Greetings everyone! I am Aryan, a 1st year Computer Science Student from Delhi, India. I am running to be the society’s Marketing Officer for this year.
I was my school’s cultural captain and the I.T head of its Model United Nations Society. These two roles demanded a significant amount of networking, promotion, and marketing. Persuasion was one of the most crucial abilities I learned. Having lived in India for the most part of my life, I would be able to connect with both the international and local students. I would encourage and persuade more students to become a part of this beautiful community — The Hindu Society.
Digital marketing is also essential. Circulation of information helps spread awareness, but branding is required to make a lasting impression. A solid marketing strategy ensures both. If elected, my top priorities would be:
1. Establish an Identity: Create references that are directly associated with the society, such as a motto or a tagline.
2. Run Digital Ad Campaigns: To expand the reach of the society.
3. Diversify Communication Methods: Include more sources of information, such as weekly newsletters consolidating all scheduled events.
4. Host Promotional Events: To provide a glimpse of this amazing community.
I take pride in being a member of this community and would do everything to help it grow. As your Marketing Officer, I would ensure that no one ever misses an event because they were unaware of it.
Good marketing and sales are essential to the success of any society and I believe I have the necessary skills to thrive in this role.
Having been a marketing and sales manager for my Young Enterprise company, I believe I am the best fit for this role. Through this experience, I gained technical skills in photo and video editing which would be crucial in this role. I also utilised social media to boost sales for our product which made over £7,000 in profit.
Creativity, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are key requirements for a Marketing and Sales Director. These skills twinned with my technical skills, I hope to develop the outreach of the society, use social media platforms to increase engagement, and work collaboratively with other committee members to ensure the success of all our events. If elected, I will use these skills to increase the scale of the flagship Hindu Society events such as Diwali Ball and Rangeela.
I am standing for this role firstly cause I'm a desi girl, I love getting involved and making myself and my friends a part of all social events, especially desi ones. I have volunteered at my local library, where I worked independently with children and adults to lead a crafts class that involved making flyers and posters for my borough to promote both small and large scale events, empowering my aplomb. I developed my communication skills efficaciously and completed all tasks competently. I have previously worked with many photo editing softwares such as Photoshop and have designed T-shirts and hoodies from scratch. My enriching work experience at Lloyds Banking Group gave me an insight about working in the financial sector. The work experience was intriguing and valuable as it gave me exposure of work ethics, self-discipline, business management and dealing with people of different mindsets. I worked closely with team leaders and Project Managers in Finance and IT on various software development processes and tasks in a commercial organization, therefore I am organised and will ensure all financial targets are met. Overall, I feel that I can bring out the success of each event and with an insta following of over 1.7k I believe I am competent enough to promote events over various social media platforms to ensure all events sell out! I hopefully look forward to being a member of the Hindu society committee and bringing out the best desi events of the year.
As an Indian who grew up in Spain, it was only on a few occasions that I was able to truly celebrate my culture making me recognise and appreciate the traditions and events we are able to be a part of. I have always believed in integrating our culture with modern touches, to spread its brilliance to a wider audience, and this has drawn me to HinduSoc.
My last few years of high school saw me take part in organising cultural fairs, talent shows, career fairs and much more, which involved dedicated team work and strong advertising skills, both in person and via social media.
As an engineering student I have developed the skill set of working under pressure and in different sized groups, something I believe will be of utmost importance for me to contribute to the HinduSoc.
Furthermore, I believe that if elected as a Marketing and Sales Officer, I would not only have the capability to work closely with other members of the committee to successfully plan advertising and sales strategies for HinduSoc events but also the ability to appeal to all society members in a way that would always maintain engagement.
I strongly believe that I am appropriate for the role as I will be able to contribute to it by enhancing the experience for all those who are part of the society as well as by carrying out relatable, exciting and understandable marketing strategies.
I am certain my enthusiasm will not dry through the year and that I will consistently put my best foot forward.
Desi culture and way of life is such a beautiful thing, and I feel that many people would enjoy experiencing it, regardless of their race, religion or ethnic background. I myself am an Afghan Sikh (not a hindu), but being a part of events such as Rangeela this year has shown me that it doesn't really matter. I think that the key to growing the society and hosting successful events hinges primarily on the people attending them. For that reason, I believe that coming up with new and unique sales strategies would be my primary focus in this role. I have some previous experience being in a position of leadership in my Sixth Form house where I was expected to arrange events and meetings makes me a good fit for the role. Making the members of the society feel like they're part of a big family is something I will strive to achieve in this position.
Hi guys I'm Mia! I am standing for the role of marketing and sales officer because I know how important cultural events are to the UCL Hindu society and would love to help promote them to encourage more people to join in on the fun. I have experience with graphic design and logo designing which is a core part of producing promotional material, and vital to ensuring that all the Hindu Society events are sold out.
As marketing officer, I aim to:
- Create even more promotional material before big events such as Rangeela, so everyone gets to see more behind-the-scenes leading up to the event.
- Create more advertising material to help secure various sponsorships for Hindu Society events and reach out to potentially even bigger sponsors than ever before.
- Create more material for UCL Hindu Society social pages such as Instagram and Facebook.
Social media has changed the game for marketing, and with smart strategies in place, our society will benefit from maximum growth. If elected as the marketing and sales officer, I can ensure this will be my top priority. Over the past year as an FYR for UCL Hindu Society, I’ve created Instagram posts advertising our sponsors using designing tools such as Canva and Photoshop; thus, I believe I have the necessary skills to ensure this society soars to new heights.
As amazing as the current social media management is, I believe I can take it to a whole other level. We can boost our engagement and sales by frequently posting more engaging content on Instagram, using IGTV and polls, etc., and diversifying our social platforms through reels and TikTok.
I want to improve our marketing strategies to revamp the aesthetics and branding of HSOC events to maximise our engagement and expand our outreach. I’ve previously taken responsibility to promote large-scale events through various internships in which I’ve displayed my creativity, communication, and negotiation skills. My effective organisation and time-management skills will also aid me in this role.
Overall, as a motivated person who has ample experience marketing HSOC events and understands the demands of this role, I believe I’m perfectly suited for this position. As HSOC’s marketing and sales officer, I aim to collaborate and brainstorm ways to bring out the very best from HSOC next year!
Hii everyone! My name’s Yashvi and I study Economics. As an Indian studying in London, being in constant contact with my culture–the Garba Night & the Diwali Ball–made me feel like home, away from home right from the beginning of the 1st term. I want to contribute to exactly this–making everyone feel this sense of belonging! As a member of the Marketing and Sales Team, I will work on revamping society’s digital marketing and working towards increasing the society’s outreach.
In the past, using my proficiency in Photoshop, I managed ASH Initiative’s (NGO) Instagram, gaining experience in digital marketing. As the First-Year Representative for the Economist’s Society, I worked with the marketing division on several instances to promote the Society’s events that turned out to be quite successful, which gave me an insight into reaching out to a target audience effectively. I also edited several videos for the Society using iMovie for its YouTube Channel. If elected I would aim to make Hindu Society social media even more engaging by utilizing more videos as part of improving digital marketing and to promote the Society’s events along with giving more insides from the committee–making the committee even more approachable!
With your vote, I will work towards ensuring that Hindu Society’s events always sell out!!
Hi, my name is Aakanksha, I am a first year Med student and I am running to be Sales Officer! Having attended all of the main HSoc events this year, such as Garba and Rangeela, I would love to make next years’ events more successful. I believe that my previous experience of persevering and selling over 250 tickets for my school leavers’ ball has helped me in establishing the patience required to be a good sales officer, making me suitable for this role. Also, I am someone who is very proud of their culture and roots, HSoc has given me this feeling of home away from home and, I would love to be a part of establishing this for all students, as it leads to a sense of community. Previously, having been part of the sixth-form leadership team as assistant head girl, has enabled me to gain the skills to work very well in a team as I am aware of my role and, can effectively communicate with other team members and, can be organised. Therefore, presenting the key inter-personal skills I can add as an individual to the committee.
I would like to stand for the role of marketing and sales officer as I feel I have the skills necessary to fulfil this role. Previous experience in starting up a garment business has enabled me to produce promotional material including flyers and posters. I also am a great team player enabling me to work close with the treasurer to ensure financial targets are met. Vote me in!
Hi everyone! My name is Zara, and I’m running for the position of Marketing and Sales Officer. As a first year student studying Information Management for Business, I truly believe that I have the knowledge needed to improve the marketing and sales aspect of this society to the best of my abilities. This knowledge was strengthened after my past experiences as a Social Media Manager and a Marketing Strategist at local companies in my hometown. Along with that, I was elected as Head Girl at high school, and these experiences enhanced my designing, creativity and leadership skills - and I would be thrilled to leverage these skills with my passion for marketing as Hindu Society’s marketing and sales officer.
As a friendly and enthusiastic individual, I aim to socialize with many individuals to increase the outreach of all events hosted by the society. Participating in Rangeela this year exposed me to the wonderful experiences that people can have if they take part in Hindu Soc events. Hence, I plan to do whatever it takes to advertise all the events in appealing manners, not only by designing aesthetically pleasing posts on social media platforms but also using word of mouth to persuade individuals to come to all these memorable events - be it Rangs, DBall, Take Me Out or other social events in general!
I hope to be the next Marketing and Sales Officer so I can make Hindu Soc events bigger and better than ever this year!
