Hello Everyone!

I am Anisha, a second-year Management Science student, and I am nominating myself to be Head of Events and Outreach at Guild. As an executive at Guild Academy last year, I have worked closely with UCL Alum from firms like Amazon, BCG, and JP Morgan to organise networking and skill-building events. Beside providing insights into the intricacies of the society, these have helped me understand need for events that cater to audiences with interest in different industries. If elected, I would like to develop the Events and Outreach division by:

1. Organising skills-building and application preparation events that equip students for roles in different industries – Finance, Consulting, Technology, and Law. The range of events I aim to produce include introductory sessions for First Years to understand varied industries, case study preparation and practice sessions, and panel events discussing Finance and Technology.

2. Reach out to Guild’ s sponsors to host a series of interactive events aimed at guiding students through each step of their career. I aim to generate thought-provoking blogs, podcasts, and videos from Guild members who have previously interned with another firm to gain insights into the workings of different firms.

3. Organise social events with the other five Guild societies to facilitate students to meet members from a wide range of courses and interests.

With your support, I hope to become an asset to the society next year!

The UCL Guild epitomises the qualities that resonate with me the most: networking, diversity and teamwork. Its research characterisation and opportunities fulfil my desire for a well-connected academic society. The most important skill a committee member and Head of Events and Outreach in specific must possess is the skill of intricate communication. In my capacities as Head-Girl of a 15,000 student-strong school, Secretary-General of one of the largest MUNs in the Middle East, and an intern at EY, I have been exposed to the delicate world of communication and presentation. Thus I have learned the art of working with a dynamic group of people, team-building and resolution; all of which are key abilities to being a synergetic member of the committee. Having served as an FYR in the External Relations division at the Economist’s Society has allowed me to refine the aforementioned qualities, making me fit for the role of Head of Events and Outreach. My vision for the Guild is to implement a reasonable number of initiatives, without affecting the running of current events in any form. Greater inter-year mixing, socials and networking with sponsors, alumni and further-study students, and the further implementation of women/diversity targeted events would allow the society to expand its community and outreach. These initiatives sound intriguing in print, but I understand, through experience, the significance of following through and implementing these innovative ideas.
