Summer Ha

Hello, I’m Summer, currently in second year Economics. As an Events Executive, I want to help the society continue to prosper by organising productive and interesting events alongside the events director. I regard myself as an appropriate candidate for two reasons.

First, I know how to really communicate and collaborate with people. I have several experiences where I could embody this, such as being a president of a society this year, or working in a start-up. I will be sharing my opinions at the same time listen carefully to others' advice and opinions. And as an executive, I will be able to work harmoniously with the director and other executives.

Second, I am deeply interested in environmental issues. In line with this, I’ve been working on a student consultant project with environmental company. And personally, I read lots of articles to keep myself aware of current issues, including the GES’s Green360 newsletter and various platforms. As an Events Executive, I'll try to hold diverse interesting events including GES's flagship events that can make more people interested and aware of green economy.

I will try my best to contribute these attributes of mine to the society. Thanks for reading and it would be great if you can vote for me as an Events Executive. Thanks :)

Serena Chan

Hi everyone! My name is Serena, a first-year Economics and Geography student running for the position of Events Executive.

This year, I have participated in several events held by the Green Economy Society, including the Breaking into ESG talk and the Case Study Workshop. These experiences have not only allowed me to meet like-minded peers but also helped me realise the significance of successful events in students’ professional development. All of which has prompted me into applying for this position.

As a regular volunteer with the Green Schools Project, I am keen to raise awareness of the values of sustainable development and to create an impact. Hence my aim for next year is to provide insight into a diverse range of businesses and opportunities, as well as to extend our career support and empower our members. I hope to do this by:

  • Inviting speakers from a wide range of background
  • Hosting regular career workshops tailored to different sectors
  • Fostering collaboration with other bodies like Sustainable UCL and LSC Sustain

Thank you for your support:) I look forward to organising events for the GES!
