Government and Politics Society: Social Media Secretary

Hi everyone! I am Andy, a second-year history student. I have always been interested in balanced political discourses, and this society offers precisely that. The recent Gov & Pol events were very impressive, and I would love to contribute to those in the near future. I believe working in a society involves going the extra mile. That means the role of Social Media Secretary entails more than the routine Instagram and Facebook posts, making flyers, Eventbrite ticketing, etc. Making an attractive website is a must, and I would work closely with the outreach team to ensure the quick expansion of this youthful society, as well as looking for collaboration opportunities with other Uni societies.

I have some experience doing committee and coordination work. As an event officer at History Society, I organise and advertise events on a weekly basis. I am also a London coordinator for the British Conservation Alliance, where the role involved establishing networks with public policy think-tanks such as the Austrian Economics Center, Adam Smith Institute, as well as helping to publicise youth environmental summits with the team. These external networks can be utilised for this society should interests arise. I think these experiences make me suitable for this role. Of course, it won’t be easy to step into a new position, but I shall do my very best to further advance Gov & Pol’s present excellence and profile.
