James Lopez

Hi all, my name is James, I am a second-year History and Politics student. I am standing for editor-in-chief because I want to provide an opportunity for all society members to voice their opinions and develop their writing talents. I believe POLIS can be an all-encompassing and non-aligned platform for discussion and debate. Through interviews and co-written articles, we can build strong relations with other politics-focused societies inside and outside of UCL, and with non-student organisations and groups.

I have previously written for the Meridian, PI Media, the CEN, POLIS and others, along with working on the diplomacy review's podcast team. One idea I think we should implement immediately is to establish a mailing list to notify society members of new articles published. Such a list could also be extended to non-members who may simply have an interest in our content; this would have a wider reach than simply posting new articles on the group chat.

Over time, I would like to establish a group of regular columnists who might each contribute every few weeks or so. It would be a great opportunity for those involved to build their CVs and developed their journalistic talents. This would also guarantee consistent, and hopefully high-quality, content. Thank you for reading, and I would really appreciate your vote.
