Max A Skoczylas

Moin moin! My name is Max and I want to serve you as General Secretary! Here’s what I can bring to the table:

  • Experience: this year I have been president of the Snooker and Pool Society. I will transfer my leadership and management skills to make sure the society runs smoothly and everyone feels involved and engaged
  • Friendly and fun: I love to meet new people and make friends and if I can make you laugh at least once, I’ll take it
  • Specialist knowledge of Ost-Holstein: if you need info on the best cafes from Timmendorfer-Strand to Gromitz, I’m your guy
  • Gebrannte Mandeln: each year I miss the German Christmas markets and particularly gebrannte Mandeln. If I get elected, I’ll make sure we all get some.

Hallöchen! My name is Amy and I am standing to be the General Secretary next year. You may have seen me at one of the fortnightly Stammtische or at Oktoberfest. I’m a first year BASc student, with a major focus on maths. I am a language enthusiast and have been learning German for 8 years now (although my Duolingo streak only just past 1000 days!). I love getting to know people from Germany and across the world, which has been especially important after covid. The cultural exchange German Society facilitates is invaluable and so I would love to contribute much more.

I have writing and communication skills, having taken part in a debating competition in the German language. I also have experience with organisation, having managed my school’s participation in a national science project several years ago. Therefore, I would love to run as secretary to streamline communications within the committee and so help facilitate the Stammtische, language classes, and other activities carried out by the society. In addition to continuing these activities, I would like to see a periodical magazine established that allows any member of the society to share culture and ideas in German, as well as to recommend materials to learners.

It’s been amazing getting to know everybody at the German Society events throughout the year. I promise to be a dedicated member of the committee. So please vote for me! Ich freue mich darauf, nächstes Jahr eure Sekretärin zu sein!
