Alex Marskell

Hi I'm Alex and I'll be going into my final year of BA German and Philosophy :))

I've been in UCL German Society ever since I joined UCL. In my second year I was successfully elected as social sec, but due to the pandemic I was not able to fully commit to the role. That said, the committee adapted well and I hope to be a part of the society again, so that I can organise some in-person events this time too. It was so much fun last year, regardless of the pandemic, and if I am to be elected again, I will do my best to make next year even more enjoyable!

I am currently on my year abroad in Munich teaching English to high school students. It has been an absolutely amazing experience so far and I have become even more enthusiastic about German culture, but I have definitely been missing my weekly dose of German Society!

I would of course continue the biweekly Stammtisch tradition. I could never deny the people the tasty beer + Bratwurst combo. Oktoberfest is another must, a pinnacle of Bavarian tradition. I would also love to organise a trip to Germany (Berlin or Munich perhaps), as there is nothing quite like seeing the place for yourself when it comes to immersing yourself in the culture. Finally, I would love to work more with other universities both in London and outside, bringing all lovers of German culture and language together!
