Genetics Society: Vice President

I’ve been carrying out the role of the Head of the Journal Club for the Genetics Society through the year 2021-2022, in the coming new academic year, I want to stay in the society and continue to support and help raise public awareness of the profound impact and importance of Genetics. In the new year, I want to challenge myself and try something different, thus I choose to nominate myself to be the Vice President of the society. Through the year of being the Head of the Journal Club, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how every role in the society coordinate and came to realise what people are expecting from us and what aspects of genetics they’re particularly interested in. If I’m elected, I’ll make my commitment to assist the president with all matters of the society and maybe try increasing the diversity of our events as well.

Using the knowledge I gained from my experiences as a Collaborations Officer this year, I will work with the President to make sure all the social events and journal clubs run smoothly. The organizational and communication skills I have developed this year will help me work through administrative and logistical tasks to make the Genetics Society and engaging and exciting society for all!
