Genetics Society: Social Media Officer

As a social media officer, I would like to use Instagram and Facebook to advertise prospective events. Currently, my plan is to often post question boxes on instagram stories to gather questions regarding socials and events but also use it to collect survey results. In addition, I would like to post educational contents that are interactive and aimed at everyone -- even for those who have not studied genetics before.

Hey everyone! I am Madhumila Killamsetty, a 1st-year Msci Biological Sciences student. Since I will be pursuing the genetics pathway from next year, I am keen on becoming a part of the Genetics society committee to meet and lead more people with a similar passion for genetics. 

I believe the Social Media Officer post will align perfectly with my interests and abilities. I am an avid social media user and other than memes and reels, I like to use these platforms to talk about real issues and sharing my perspective on them. I was in charge of advertising the events conducted in my high school through Instagram and Facebook. In addition, I ran the school's Instagram page for a year. The management, teamwork, and communication skills I acquired during this period will come in handy in this post. 

I believe I am equipped to carry out the duties of a social media officer including managing the society page on various platforms and working with my team to advertise events and socials. I also plan to go live on Instagram periodically to have a better interaction with the society members and attend to their queries. In addition to this, I plan on organizing some fun little online contests such as coming up with best genetics meme or joke.
