Ichika Aradono

As an event officer, I would like to plan socials and talks as often as possible. Throughout last academic year, I realized the importance of planning interactive socials that are open to anyone regardless of their major or year, and I believe that those chances will be one of the best opportunities to share ideas on their academic interests or careers. I will aim to have socials that accommodate the preferences of members, both in terms of location and content.

Cindy Zhang

Hey Everyone, I'm Cindy! I'm a first year biology student taking the genetic stream standing for events officer of genetics society because of my interest in genomics and human disease, my interest can be demonstrated with my latest paper on incomplete dominance about Tay-Sachs Disease. As a current member of GenSoc, I have enjoyed many of the events and would love to contribute my efforts into continuing an integral part of the society. Primarily, I would like to run events covering all interests in the field and guest speakers to members of all interests.

As the Events Officer, I will run the following:

  • Bi-Monthly Guest Speaker Events where a broad range of topics will be introduced
  • Networking Socials to interact with peers and leading industry experts with similar interests in genetics
  • Create an inclusive environment where YOU can vote on OUR society events and decide the topic/event will be directed next!
  • (all great experiences for your CV! ;) )
Lilya Matsumoto

This year, as Collaborations Officer for the Genetics Society, I contacted several societies within UCL, the genetics societies in KCL and Imperial College London, and potential guests speakers to try and organize engaging social and academic events. Using the knowledge I gained from my experiences, I want to continue planning more events next year to make Genetics Society an exciting society for all!
