Hiii!! I’m Izzy and I’m a first year studying Social Sciences with Data Science :DD I joined genfem this year and I’ve had the best time so far. I’ve loved attending the variety of events that have been held, and being surrounded by likeminded feminists who feel so strongly about gender and feminism related issues has been soOOo refreshing!!
I’m hoping to be a part of the committee next year, and I think the role of secretary would be really cool!! During school I played an active role in the school council, booking committee rooms, assisting the organisation of out-of-school activities, and contacting different charities, so I’m comfortable with taking on a lot of admin and organisational work. I also understand the important responsibility as a committee member of ensuring that the society is a completely safe, friendly, and welcoming environment! I’m not shy of sending a fair few emails & I’m really eager to help make a difference through supporting the organisation of charity fundraising events, as well as helping to provide more social and educational events too - hopefully pushing for more pub quizzes;)) !!!
Be it as secretary or not, I’m super excited for another year of hard-core feminism!! ^.^ <333
Hi I'm Audrey (she/her)! I've been interested in feminism for quite a long time but my enthusiasm really picked up during lockdown, where I would spend all day listening to podcasts and researching issues relating to feminism (and social justice). The power of feminism comes from being able to learn about systems of power and being able to free ourselves from them. My aim as a committee member would be to provide fun and educational events for all members to help in their journey of deconstructing learned patriarchal ideas. As a queer woman (sapphic and aroace), I also want to promote more activities that include intersectional feminism and that help us to find and connect with each other! I'm currently the general secretary for the taekwondo club, so I have quite a lot of experience with writing newsletters, doing admin work, and supporting a society. Having acted as a sustainability ambassador for Sustainable UCL this year and as head of advocacy for charity projects in school, I've learned a lot about organising events and collaborating with team members.
This society was the one I was the most excited to join before starting at UCL so I really hope I can become part of the team and provide the rest of the members with lots of exciting opportunities :)
