Candidates

Noa Seror

Being an outgoing and motivated person with a taste for leadership, I believe to be a suitable candidate for this role. I am the former Marketing & Business Development Assistant (Vendi), UCL M&A Group Events Executive, and Co-chief of my high school's ecological transition. I am an autonomous person that can take decisions when necessary while confronting everyone's opinions to find the best alternative.

If I were selected, I would develop Alumni networks, organize online meetings, create forums and more interactive platforms such as Instagram live Q&As with speakers.

The society would promote cooperation with new partners and organize competitions with other societies. Every member could have a voice and participate in the development of events!

Together, we could therefore develop this society.

Oisin R Moriarty

Hi, my name is Oisin, I’m a first-year Physics student and current Data & AI correspondent for the Fintech Review. I have greatly enjoyed my time at the Fintech Society this year and am therefore passionate about continuing the great events for members next year.

As Vice President of Events, I’d aim to continue some of the fantastic events that were held this year as well as starting new ones, with the goal of increasing the frequency of events. Such events would include career talks, internship advice, competitions, and socials.

I’d work to have more events engaging with the Fintech start-up community. I believe this would be a great opportunity for members to learn about one of the fastest-growing industries in London, and also act as a potential way for students to get into such start-ups.

I’ve enjoyed some of the competitive events this year and therefore would also aim to expand these, including starting a Fintech hackathon with both technical and non-technical aspects. These events, would not only provide an opportunity to gain experience but are also great for networking and socialising.

Socials are also a key part of any society and, if elected I would increase the number of such events, especially taking place after career events and competitions.

Finally, if I were to be elected I would be a friendly and welcoming member of the committee, who members can easily approach with ideas for making the best events possible!

Ria Bhandari

I’m applying for the position of Events Director at the UCL FinTech Society as I believe I have the ability to manage operations and bring together people in a collaborative space. The networking skills I’ve acquired through my role as Marketing Director for the School of Management Society make me a good fit for the role because of the experience I’ve gained in organising events, reaching out to speakers and guests, working with a diverse team with creative opinions and having a plan of action if things don’t always go the way I anticipate. Having organised social events as part of the society, I found my passion for working with people, and managing all aspects of any event, be it planning event pitches, budgeting, contacting and convincing speakers, networking woth sponsors, and finally marketing the event.

Additionally, I see myself as a fun and friendly person with a passion for the ideas the FinTech Society stands for - Finance, Technology and Diversity etc. so I believe I’ll be able to have amazing collaboration with the team and have a great time organising events and meeting new people.

Looking forward to being a part of the FinTech Society!

Aadi Singhi

I believe that being a part of the committee of the Fintech society is my best choice, as I have always been interested in this field, have made my own investments in the capital and cryptocurrency markets, and I want to make my career in this as well. I clearly understand the duties of being the head of events at the Fintech society, and I am ready to give all my time and effort for this role, no matter how intensive it gets. I have loads of potential ideas for different kinds of fun and informative events that could take place in the next academic year. I also want the students to be more involved with the society throughout the year, and I want people to realize that being a part of this society is not only a fun thing but can also be very beneficial for their careers. I can prove my skills as I have always been a leader since high school, from being the anti-bullying cadet of my school, the lead organizer, and a volunteer for a lot of events, and I know what it takes to be on the organizer desk-the number of problems that could arise, the brainstorming sessions for a new event idea, fund management, speaking to sponsors, etc, I have done it all. I have won multiple prizes in hackathons and public speaking. I am a highly motivated, and hard-working person, and I easily fit the qualities that a leader must have. I am standing because I know that I can bring change to this society and lead it with utmost honesty and sincerity.
