Jenny-Ann L Windbrake

Hey there,

I’m Jenny Windbrake, a first-year philosophy student with a great passion for film-making.

My aim as your Documentary Producer is to spark and enhance your interest in documentaries and create a secure space for aspiring film-makers to explore and advance their skills. To me, providing an enjoyable and fun work environment is equally as important as the project’s quality.

I know it sounds cliché, but I really do want to provide you with many opportunities to get involved in film-making regardless of your skills or experience. Besides the term-documentaries I will, therefore, also organise a 48-hours Documentary-Challenge which will be a great opportunity to meet new, like-minded people and engage in a project without long-term commitments.

Why you should vote for me?

In school, I was the President of the Students’ Union where I developed a set of important organisation skills including time-management and social skills. I’ve learned how to value the well-being of my teammates equally as high as the project’s quality! Also, working on various term-films and being the Studio and Equipment Manager, I’ve gained valuable experience and knowledge about our society!

So, whether you already have an idea for a documentary or you’re just looking for a way to get involved, you’re at the right place here;)

Please feel free to message me:))

I’m looking forward to meeting many of you soon!

Nathalie (Nat) Ng

From hard-hitting political pieces to reflections on the mundane things in life, documentaries are the ideal format to explore these ideas and to give viewers a new way of seeing things. Everyone has a unique narrative or perspective to share, and as documentary producer, I’d like to make that happen!

I’ve been involved in quite a few FilmSoc projects, including two term documentaries and lots of editing. Having experienced the spontaneous, on-the-go nature of documentary filmmaking (AKA having my life flash before my eyes as I stepped onto a swaying houseboat whilst carrying camera equipment), I’d love to give back to the society by continuing to foster this collaborative and creative environment. With my previous involvement in numerous socially-aware societies at my high school, my internship at UNESCO HK, and volunteer experience at an international film festival in Canada, I believe I have the necessary skills to succeed in this role.

If elected, my goal would be to raise the profile of documentaries within FilmSoc by planning more documentary-specific events, such as organising short challenges and collaborating with other committee members to host workshops/talks about interview techniques, ethical filmmaking, etc. I’d also ensure that documentary teams have adequate time and resources to complete their work, as from my experience, projects tend to stall during post-production. With your vote, I’ll make sure that we’ll have the best year yet!
