Filipino Society: Welfare & Community Outreach Officer

From spending first year during the pandemic, joining Filipino society was one of the first ways that allowed me to feel like I was finally going through the university experience. I would like to give back to the society by applying for the Welfare & Community Outreach Officer position. I want members to experience the same community that I am grateful for being a part of due to the current committee members that made it possible.

I’m currently working as a carer and have had experience with volunteering work in two nursing homes. I believe that my involvement has contributed to my caring attributes which will help me create a safe space for everyone. I also hope to extend my experiences by connecting us with charitable organisations and volunteering opportunities. Going to university can be undoubtedly an overwhelming experience in all different years. I’ve been through this personally and saw it in the friends I’ve made through this society. I want to make it easier for members to contact us and UCL’s student support services when necessary. Therefore, to the current and future members, I hope to support you and be a point of contact whenever you need to make you feel welcome at UCL!
