Hello everyone! I am a second year biological sciences student, and hope to be your BAME officer this year (:

As a someone who has lived in multiple cities across the world, I was able to experience what it means to be a female in different cultural settings. The common denominator was not just a lack of equality in opportunity, and systematic, almost self-feeding cycle putting women at a disadvantage (something we are all unfortunately aware of.)  Other than the disproportionate position women hold, the very title of this position highlights another pressing issue- the disproportionate representation of BAME students- reduced to a convenient acronym.

Having been an active organisational member of both cultural and academic societies allowed me to gain a varied perspective of the student body dynamic at UCL, as well as the gaps in what UCL currently has to offer. I am now passionate to create change, through the following:

- Indiscriminate inclusivity in all aspects to create a safe support system at UCL.

- Increased collaborations with other societies to hold social events and create awareness about pressing issues in our communities.

- Facilitation of career-linked activities including panel talks with members of the BAME community who are currently employed.

Thank you for reading my application- it would be an honour and pleasure to serve you all soon (:
