Max H Cheng

Hi, I’m Max and I am running for Vice President of Economics for EFS.

I am a diligent first year economics student, wishing to put my skills and academic knowledge into good use by bringing new, innovative ideas to the table and promoting the ever-evolving EFS.

I pride myself on being a logical and pragmatic thinker with a sociable personality, who aims to establish a friendly and approachable environment for all EFS members. With strong personal connections with the economics department representatives, I intend to create the perfect liaison between them and EFS. By working closely alongside the Economics’ department and its professors, I will strive to reach out to high-profile speakers to host talks and provide regular insights on the latest economic trends.

With a standing offer to intern for HSBC in Hong Kong for 6 months post-university, I believe I can act as a contributor to the mentorship programme, as well as a vital part to the EFS CV workshops. Furthermore, with my experience as the two-year running vice president of the Economist’s society at my sixth form, I have chaired myriad debates concerning current affairs. I wish to incorporate more debates into the society, and collaborate with other London universities to stimulate diverse, differing perspectives to discussions. I believe the opportunity to build a strong network at the variety of economics social events will also catalyse growth and maximise value for all EFS members.

Niharika Mudigonda

Economics and Finance society has provided me with a sense of community and has greatly aided me in my career progression. At the beginning of the year, I felt displaced and found solace in this society and wish to help other students do the same. I was previously a part of the school council for two years and have developed core skills in communication and organization. In particular, I have experience working closely with my team to make vital changes, such as introducing trousers into a traditional girls' school uniform that hasn't changed for the last 100 years. I have also developed strong leadership and presentation skills by co-founding the economics club in school and have experience leading weekly discussions and presentations on current events in finance. I am currently pursuing an economics degree and am incredibly interested in finance. I am confident these skills will allow me to thrive as the Vice President of Economics. I am looking forward to developing the Economics and Finance society further to aid a more significant number of students, especially those unsure of their career progression, and provide them with opportunities.

Ruiwen Zhang

Hi guys, I'm Ruiwen. I'm deeply passionate about econ & finance and helping fellow students. If elected as Econ VP, I will do my best to bring new values to a new EFS! My priorities are simple:

  1. Set up a regular podcast and publication on major topics such as Ukraine, pandemic, cryptos, new macro etc for members to contribute to, as well as inviting guest contributions from major economists and figures
  2. Set up workshops on publishing papers in collaboration with department
  3. Organise events on a wider scale, especially with other unis, organisations and international forums (eg, IMF, WEF)
  4. Help you access scholarships, masters’ and prep for this
  5. Bring more funding and partnerships including with think tanks and publishing a report on this
  6. Provide members with a better insight and prep for EF related careers

I'm confident in accomplishing these as I’ve had previous experience leading societies, organising visits to heads of states, dinners and dialogue with government and business leaders. I have extensive public service experience, incl directly contributing to setting up >100 schools and hospitals. I’ll be interning at the NDRC, and have public and private sector experience, including working on a $15bn fund, with firsthand experience of how policy drives markets and markets influence policy.
All in all, I’m deeply passionate, I believe many of you are too, so let's help bring a fresh start to EFS 2.0, together!
