Jai A Britto

Hello I'm Jai and I'd love to be your social secretary

Theatre is a hugely important (when a show's on, the most important) part of my life. I have acted in and co-directed numerous shows as a drama scholar, recipient of the SP Prize for Drama, national youth theatre and national youth music theatre member, the most recent of which were Machinal and the New Writing Fest. Social Secretary combines two aspects of theatre I find most rewarding: watching shows and meeting people. The friends I have made through theatre have been some of my best and some of my best memories are of going to the theatre. Whether interrogating critical issues of our day, like the ‘The Jungle’, dismantling our assumptions, as in ‘The Doctor’ or making us cackle with laughter (for the right and wrong reasons) like the Richard III adaptation ‘Teenage Dick’, I am all for making going to the theatre a civic duty like the Greeks...

I feel this passion and my knowledge of the London theatre-scene, organisation, and experience running events on the Head Student Team at school and as European Horizons First-Year Rep would make me a great social secretary. Events I would organise are a themed ball, official discussions of theatre we see, networking events & talks with industry professionals, more events with other unis/student theatre groups, trips to external events in London and, most importantly (jks), provisions to organise cast afterparties if requested!
