Tara Goolamali

My name is Tara and I would love to be the Social Secretary for Dance Society! As an extrovert and someone who has attended many of the socials this year, I feel this role would really suit me. I am happy to talk to anyone, and this goes for both socialising and organising. I have been involved in many societies and met many new people this year. Having always balanced many hobbies such as dance and cheer alongside school/university, I am naturally organised and good at multitasking, which would be helpful in planning and booking socials. Alongside this, I have been Head Girl at my school, where I had to be confident and committed; completing many tasks including meetings, talking to different students and leading a team. Furthermore, I worked as a waitress, meaning I am personable and enjoy the hospitality scene. I am used to and enjoy talking to lots of different people, in both professional and casual settings. I am excited to be even more involved in dance society, and now that the Covid situation is hopefully becoming less dangerous, organise even more socials like going to Scala, as well as quizzes and movie nights.

Amelia Czapska

Hi everyone! My name is Amelia Czapska and I’m hoping you’ll choose me to be your new social secretary!

Do you ever feel like you only ever see your dance friends at rehearsals? I’m here to change that and make dance society much more than just shows, classes and competitions!

As your social secretary, I would aim to:

  • Organise a wide range of socials, that aren’t show or competition specific
  • Make social events a regular part of dance-soc life
  • Organise great pre and post show socials
  • Ensure everyone feels welcome at social events

I’m talking at-least monthly opportunities to spend time with other dance-soc members and meet other dancers that you don’t have any rehearsals with. Mini-golf, pub crawls, trips around London, crocheting, bingo…  (once-approved) I promise there will be something for you.

My main priority is inclusivity, which is why I am ready to organise small and large events to help make dance-soc more of a community after a year of masks at rehearsals and limited size shows.

I’m here to make dance society so much more than just… a dance society, because there’s just no better way to do the things you love, than with your dance-soc friends!

Oh and I promise to try and get us a table at Phineas often, if you’re up for a cheeky Scala night :)

Tiffene Larose

Hi everyone! I’m Tiffene, a first-year biology student. Being a dancer for 15 years and participating in multiple shows throughout the year really highlighted the friendships and support system I gained from my choreographers and fellow dancers. I hope to build this welcoming environment for everyone in Dance Soc through friendly socials. I believe I am well organised, sociable and good at problem-solving, skills that I know would be helpful to be a Social Secretary. Being the Freshers Rep this year also allowed me to get a grasp of what goes into the planning of socials. I’d like to organise even more events for everyone to get to know each other, maybe some picnics, movie nights, karaoke... scala? I’m up for suggestions!!

This year, my role as the Freshers Rep showed me how rewarding it is to be part of Dance Soc. I believe that my familiarity with committee duties and the production of a show would not only be helpful towards being the Social Sec but also for general responsibilities. I can’t wait to be a part of this supportive community again next year!
