I am a second year MEng Biochemical Engineering student in the department and I would like to serve as the Welfare Officer and Events Secretary in Crook Society. I would have the opportunity to organize career and student social events that would increase individual chances of networking, bolster interpersonal relationships and let students explore bioprocess concepts informally in a social manner. I have always been the kind of person behind the scene that made things happen and thus I want to make sure Crook maintains its thriving position in the Students' Union (SU) UCL as a tightly knit community committed to bioprocessing and biotechnology in order to change the world for the better. The Engineering Coalition devised during this academic year represents an open road I would like to span wider in order to organize special field trips in which Crook members would be able to visit good manufacturing practice (cGMP) bioprocessing facilities in microbial, fungal, mammalian applications and autologous and allogeneic cell and gene therapies and immunotherapies. I have realized the stark importance of industrial stakeholders in terms of bespoke career outreach, inspiration and student vacancies tailored to our magnificent student cohorts and therefore I am keen to engage students with sector representatives in the upcoming events. I am looking forward to actively be part of a vibrant student community centered around biotechnology and lead its path in the coming academic year.
