Kyan Foo

Hi, I'm Kyan! Self-proclaimed Singaporean extraordinaire! While I might not sound Singaporean at first, I hope that once you get to know me, I would still remind you of a familiar home. Check out the Hustings video on the UCLSS Instagram to find out more about me and vision for this role!

Some of you would know me from Singsoc football events, such as Warwick Summer or KILUQ Games. Some of you would know me from the politics and humanities family. Or maybe, if you observed very very carefully, you would have seen me at regular events. Now, I hope you all can envision me as your future SECRETARY!

If not, that is okay. I want you to imagine me as MORE than just a secretary. Like how Pepper Potts went beyond her simple secretary duties for Stark Industries, a strong committee will make a great Singsoc, and that’s where I come in! I aim to make both the committee's and every Singsoc member's life easier, so you can focus on how much fun you're having! You can look forward to: 1. a regular newsletter, 2. more collaboration events with various societies, and 3. being the BEST Singsoc in London(through winning some friendly competition of course).

If this gets you hyped up for next year, you aren't alone. Once I'm elected I hope to receive your fresh ideas for how to make the society better, together. Make the choice for MORE.

So everyone running loves Singsoc, what’s new right?

First, as someone who didn’t really join Singsoc events during freshers, I found it relatively more challenging to settle in. Although I do recommend interacting with people from all over the world, I am also so glad to have the friends I met through Singsoc. With this, I truly aspire to make Singsoc a home to you as well and thus I am here running to be part of the next committee.

Second, on top of just organising stuff, I want to be an active secretary. Here's my main goals:

  1. Better events: monthly forecasts so that you can save the dates of events you’re interested in, instead of informing you too last minute; I will update the Singsoc website regularly which may attract more sponsorships for Singsoc; And of course, constantly getting your feedback and ideas.
  2. Stronger network: I want to introduce an alumni, flat and good food & things to do in London network!
