Portuguese Speaking Society: Events Officer

Hi, my name is Teresa Seabra Gomes, and I’m a proud Portuguese student here at UCL. I’m running to be your next Events Officer because I believe in the power of community, inclusion, and making every single student feel at home – no matter where they come from.

Moving to a new country can be overwhelming, and I know from personal experience how important it is to feel welcomed, supported, and connected. That’s why I want to create events that go beyond just fun – I want to create spaces where people can build friendships, celebrate diversity, and truly feel like they belong.

If elected, I will:

• organise a wide range of events for all tastes – from cultural celebrations and international food nights to wellness activities and casual hangouts.
• make sure events are inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of background, language, or social circle.
• collaborate with societies to amplify student voices and bring our vibrant UCL community together.
• focus on student wellbeing – events should be a source of joy and relief, not stress.

I care deeply about people’s happiness and sense of belonging. As Events Officer, I’ll work with kindness, creativity, and commitment to make sure every student can find their place, make memories, and enjoy their time at UCL to the fullest.
