At the beginning of the season last year, I tore my ACL in the first training session (I still apologise if you had to witness that). That means that this year I have had to spend a significant amount of time off the court, and after my surgery, learning how to walk, run, jump and get back to netball as quick as I can. Sport has always been a massive part of my life, and before my injury, I could never have imagined having to take a year off from doing what I love. Whilst taking this step away from netball has been really tough, it has also taught me so much about resilience I never knew I had, perseverance and the importance of community. For these reasons, I would love to be welfare sec next year. I understand what it is like to have a lot going on behind the scenes and how we use sport as a relief for everything else. I understand how injury can really impact mental health, and from my own experience, I think that through the role of welfare sec I could really support others going through similar situations.  If elected, I’d love to introduce regular check-ins for injured players, anonymous feedback forms, and low-pressure socials to help everyone feel included, even off the court. I’d also work closely with the committee to make sure wellbeing is part of every decision we make, such as by creating a buddy system between teams 1–3 and 4–6 to strengthen support across the club, and work on making our socials feel welcoming for everyone, no matter their situation. Thanks <3
