Ammara Khan

Hi! I'm Ammara, a 1st year Classics student!

For me, the people that make up the music society are the most important. That's why I'm standing for Welfare and Volunteering Officer!

Why vote for me?

Music has always been a huge part of my life,  and has been a space where I've found support, friendships and amazing experiences.  I'd love to be given the oppurtunity to give back to our community, ensuring a space where people can be heard, cared for and included. Whether it be  check-ins during busy concert periods, or simply just having a chat during socials,  I'm available for support when you need.  I believe that my ability to communicate effectively and calmly, even under pressure,  and my approachability will encourage a safer and more open environment for the music society.

The music society is a large one, and it's important that we are  able to build a strong, inclusive and welcoming community that will help and encourage you to develop your passions and make the most of your time here! I've always been part of a music club/group and  I believe I will be a great fit.  I've always tried to be someone people can turn to, and I hope I can be relied on by all of you.

As for volunteering, I’m really passionate about using music to give back, whether through outreach gigs, music workshops, or collaborations with local causes. I know uni life can be busy, so it will be open and flexible, no pressure!

I’d be really grateful for your vote and I promise you won't regret

Ava Gibson

Hi everyone!

My name is Ava, I’m a second year Law student, and I’m running for Welfare and Volunteering Officer. I have loved being part of String Orchestra during my first two years at UCL, as it has always been a welcoming environment with such lovely people! It is important to me that everyone feels comfortable and supported within Music Society, so as Welfare and Volunteering Officer I would be an open and approachable point of contact for any members to raise their concerns.

I have also really enjoyed playing at volunteering events this year, and would work to make these opportunities more widely accessible. One of my favourite parts of music is sharing it with others, and I really think that performing in the community is such a  rewarding experience. This year, I organised four chamber music groups within String Orchestra, and hope to expand this initiative next year, to help Music Society to make the most of all volunteering opportunities.

Thanks so much!
