Mandheep Dasi

I’m excited to run for Social Secretary because I’m passionate about creating a close-knit, welcoming community where everyone feels included and celebrated. With my strong organisational skills and past experience planning successful events, I’m confident in my ability to bring fun, engaging socials to life, whether it's casual meetups or larger cultural celebrations. I want to make sure every member has opportunities to connect, make memories, and feel proud to be part of Hindu Soc. Your vote means we can make this year unforgettable together. Thank you.

Ema Gholkar

Hindusoc has been a home away from home for so many of us, and I want to be a part of a committee that continues building that sense of family for so many more students in UCL. Being a part of the commitee would be a great way for me to contribute my skills to spread the message of our culture and use it to bring people together.

Krish Baranwal

I’m standing for Social Secretary because I’m passionate about creating fun, inclusive spaces where people can relax, connect, and build lasting friendships. I believe the social side of HinduSoc plays a vital role in building our community, and I’d love the opportunity to shape that. With five years of experience as a cadet in the RAF, I’ve learnt how to organise and lead group activities that bring people together. My experiences have given me first-hand experience in scheduling and coordinating successful socials. I want to bring fresh, creative ideas to the table and ensure that every social is something members look forward to.

Karina Dhrona

Namaste Everyone!

My name is Karina, a first-year medical student, and I’m running to be your Social Secretary for next year! From the very start of university, the social events have been a core part of my experience. At the start of the year, I turned up to events not knowing anyone, and left with a group of friends who are probably my closest to date! Whether it was chaotic games nights, being part of an awesome Rangeela family or ending Holi by sneezing out more colours than Dulux has to offer, I’ve loved every minute of it. And now I want to be the one behind the scenes – planning the vibes and making sure next year’s socials are just as memorable!

From a young age, I have been deeply involved with Sai School, a Hindu-based Saturday school focused on teaching spiritual values and cultural heritage. As a dedicated member and former teacher, I planned and delivered lessons on Hinduism and its core principles, while also helping to organise large-scale events like the flagship Diwali on Trafalgar Square in London – an experience that strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and event management skills. As Social Sec, I’d bring in more family socials and introduce fun, competitive inter-family events. Whether you’re the next Virat Kohli, secretly sketching rangolis in your lecture notes, or vibing to Arijit Singh, I’ll make sure there’s something for everyone. If elected, expect more laughter, more bonding, and probably more group chats than you can handle.

Thank you!

Ayaan Shah

One of the first events I went to at UCL was the Welcome Mela. I was very nervous during freshers week, but that night made me feel part of something bigger. Through the games, food and conversations, I found a community—and I’d love to help recreate that for next year’s freshers with an even more vibrant and welcoming Mela. I was lucky to have two amazing HSoc parents—Sanjana and Ishaan—and made some of my closest friends through our family. I want to lead next year’s family events and make the concept more consistent across the year, with termly Family Fortunes, family dinners, and tailored socials. I’ll work with Sanskaar officers and London Hindu Socs to bring back Bhajan Night, while adding relaxed socials through HSoc After Hours—food, music and vibes, with themes like 'Dress as your favourite Bollywood character', Desi Games Night and Movie Nights. I’d also introduce weekend Yoga x Chai mornings to help us reset and reconnect. I’ll collaborate with Indian Dance Soc for Garba workshops ahead of Navratri, and with Jain Soc and KCSoc to run weekly Seva events at Charing Cross Food Bank.  I manage my time well and I’m ready to take on this demanding role. If you're after someone who’ll plan with purpose, deliver creatively, and bring real energy—I’d love your vote.

Shashank Iyer

Just when you thought you were done reading my manifestos, I'm back with another one. My commitment to HSoc speaks for itself at this point: 3 elections, 3 losses, but I'm here to make it 1 from 4, because you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Simply put, I have a clear vision for my future as social sec of UCL HSoc - integrating newcomers of all years, bridging the gap between the committee and the wider society, and ensuring that all weekly events are so meticulously planned that you get to focus on what really matters - learning and celebrating the ways of Hinduism.

Some of the events that I would look to implement would be games and quiz nights to allow for newer members to feel fully at home in this society, sports match viewing parties allowing you to celebrate together (or cry if you're an RCB fan), and potluck-style dinners, expressing the diversity of Indian culture and the thing we all love the most, food. Along with this, I'll build on the fantastic framework left by the previous committee with the Sanskaar Sessions, co-ordinating with the incoming Sanskaar Officers to ensure that education is at the forefront of the society.

In short, my degree officially hates me because I spend more time writing campaign speeches than lecture notes - but that goes to show how much passion I have for this society. My boundless energy and unmatched desire to make a society that you would be proud to be a part of is really all you could ask in your future social sec of HSoc.

Vartika Dhayal

Hi everyone!

I’m nominating myself to be your next Social Secretary because some of my favourite memories this year have come from Hindu Soc socials — especially Holi and DBall. Those events were not only incredibly fun, but they genuinely helped me form such close friendships, and I’d love the chance to help create that same experience for others next year.

As Social Sec, I’d bring energy, creativity, and commitment to planning events that bring our society even closer together — from cast socials like Family Fortunes during Rangeela, to the big ones like Welcome Mela.

Hindu Soc has been such a big part of my uni experience and I’d love the chance to give back by helping create more moments where people can laugh, connect and feel part of something. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and will put in the work, I’d be honoured to be a part of the committee. 💛

Jai Singh Yao

I am standing for Hindu Society’s Social Media Marketing position as I believe that as someone with significant experience in this field, I can help to fully advocate and convey the message of UCL’s Hindu Society’s as an open and cultural society that seeks to engage and encourage more people to understand our faith, values, festivals and philosophies in an engaging way.

My role in social media marketing is reflected by my formal experience in the industry, where I was hired by an independent second school to manage and establish their social media as part of their marketing and public engagement programmes. This was hugely successful which resulted in significant interaction and popularity that prompted continued posts and engagement with these platforms to this day.

As someone who has grown up as a British Hindu I am acutely aware of the way in which we need to present our society as not just for Hindus but engaging and fun, something which would let all UCL students of all faiths and creeds gain a better understanding of our culture and values. I would be committed to ensuring Hindu society stands out as an active and engaging community, with frequent posts and announcement's and greater marketing strategies on our social media platforms, but I would also be implementing greater physical engagement, by marketing our society across sites within the campus, and lastly, increase our activities with other universities, London and beyond.

I hope to count on your vote - Jai S.Y.
