Dylan Penney

Hi, my name is Dylan and I'm a second year Computer Science student. I'm standing for the Tech Director of UCL TedX as I believe I have the skills and qualities required and am always looking for opportunities to build upon my knowledge. Also, I am passionate about learning and developing myself which I believe is one of the core fundamentals of the society.

I have numerous projects and collaborations where I have acted in a team leadership role - all of which have had successful results due partly to my oversight abilities but also due to the work of my colleagues; this is just one of my qualities that make me the right choice for this role. Throughout my studies I have honed my problem solving and algorithmic thinking skills, making me apt at quickly finding solutions or reaching out to those who can.

Playing doubles badminton in my spare time (and being part of the UCL Badminton Society) has taught me how to communicate effectively with a teammate, especially when under the pressure of a match. Another quality I believe shows that I work well under pressure is being a qualified Scuba Diver (no pun intended!) as it is crucial that you quickly solve any problems that may arise when deeply submerged in a large body of open water.

Overall, I believe I am a great match for this role due to my plethora of team leadership experience in both large and small scale teams and my ability to problem solve under pressure.
