Hi I’m Maia :)

I have loved cricket this year: I have regularly attended the weekly beginner sessions on Mondays and found a newfound passion for the sport! I have felt incredibly welcomed by the society, and I would love the opportunity to continue establishing that same inclusivity this year as softball captain. I strongly believe that I have the drive, organisation and creativity to successfully fulfil this role and I have lots of ideas that I would like to bring to the table.

Within my role, I would work with the committee and coaches to coordinate the Monday sessions, as well as the general running of the club. My focus would be to enhance the Monday beginners’ sessions and establish a termly schedule where each week a different skill would be developed efficiently through a mixture of training drills and fun games. This could eventually lead to matches, and I would be keen to organise some friendly games against other universities in the next terms to test all the skills that have been worked on. This would also be a fun and rewarding activity for those who come to the beginners’ sessions, as it becomes an attainable goal to work towards during practice.

I have strong communication and previous sport leadership skills, so would work effectively with other committee members and encourage the movement of players up to hardball wherever possible. I believe my approachable nature would create a friendly and open atmosphere at training, and within the club more generally.
