Election post
I’m standing for the position of Social Secretary because I think science and journalism both thrive on strong social connections. The best and most innovative ideas often come from casual conversations, whether it’s a debate over a new discovery or just chatting about an article someone’s excited about. I’d love to help create more of those moments within the Science Magazine community.
As social secretary, I would organise more relaxed, fun events that bring everyone together, things like a board games night, coffee meet-ups, or informal chats about science journalism and writing. It would be great to have more spaces where writers, editors, and readers can share their interests, brainstorm ideas, and get to know each other outside of deadlines and editing sessions.
For me, building a community is just as important as creating great content. I’d love to help make the society a welcoming place where people feel comfortable connecting, collaborating, and celebrating a shared passion for science. I think a stronger social side would make the magazine not only more cohesive but also more creative and I’d be excited to help make that happen!
