Rock and Metal Society: Freshers' Representative

Having recently become a metalhead during Sixth Form, I've faced my fair share of judgement and back-handed comments from friends, for indulging in an "edgy" music genre. As your First Year Representative, I will strive to create the most inclusive environment for our incoming fans of rock/metal, with events catering to all types of members so that everyone can feel at home.

For next years Welcome Week, my ideas include:

• Freshers Fashion Show - dress up in your fanciest chokers, Doc Martens and battle jackets and show off your style, open to all, to act as an icebreaker to the new first years, as well as showing off the society as inclusive and welcoming, from the get-go, possibly with the MUA and MODO Society!
• Metalify Your Name  - create a poster of your name, or a favourite lyric (or blegh), in caligraphy, emulating your favourite band's logo font, and draw lots of skulls and horns, possibly with UCL Art Society!
• Weekly jam socials - create a list of your top rock/metal songs for the week, and jam to them in DIY mosh pits with your friends, or discuss recommendations from the side lines
• Band of the Month - every month,  we'll discuss a historically famous band's contributions and influence to the overall rock or metal scene, think Black Sabbath or Death
• Concert meet-ups - meet up with other like-minded people before a concert, with possible pub trips to follow

I've organised and run many events as Treasurer of Sixth Form Committee, such as Bake Sales, Prom, and Open Days.
