Election post
As your current First-Year Representative, I understand the needs and concerns of our UCLPS community. I am running for Welfare Officer since I want to ensure that no one feels excluded, all members get a chance to engage and participate regardless of their confidence and level of experience. In addition, I will ensure that our society remains free of any forms of discrimination, marginalisation, judgement, offensive behaviours, and language. This will allow our members to grow not only as speakers but also as people.
Leading group activities taught me the importance of being as approachable as possible during group sessions to ensure equal participation and giving a chance for everyone to develop. I will actively listen to feedback, check in with members to ensure everyone feels welcome and part of our brilliant community.
Approachability is important, because welfare is not just about support, but rather a sense of community where the skills, knowledge, and experience of all members can collide together and complement each other in a coherent manner.
