Music Society (RUMS): Welfare and Social Officer

I’m hope to serve as Social and Welfare Officer for RUMS Music because I’m passionate about fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable community within the society, having benefitted from gaining valuable friendships and musical experience through the society.

Over the past half term, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as interim Social and Welfare Officer, during which I organised events such as the Fresher Social and Curry Night. These experiences have helped me develop my ability to plan, promote, and run events that are both engaging and safe for everyone involved. I’m proud of how these events helped bring new and returning members together, and I’d love the chance to build on this momentum.

If elected, I hope to expand the range of socials across the year, ensuring that activities are more evenly spread out between terms to maintain enthusiasm and engagement. For example, I’d love to introduce a Term 2 Karaoke Night and other interactive socials that combine fun with music-making.

As Welfare Officer, my priority will be to make sure that every member feels supported, included, and able to participate in a way that suits them. Whether someone is a regular in the groups or just loves being part of the community socially, I want to ensure everyone feels valued and has a positive experience in RUMS Music.
