Hello, I'm Lauren, hoping to be your Mezzo Orchestra manager! I've been a member of UCL's Music Society since last year and am fortunate to have been involved in String Orchestra and (one term of) Symphony Orchestra. Other than that, I might've met you at social events or other places outside of Music Society :)
I originally volunteered for the position of Mezzo Orchestra manager when it was just a concept. I was drawn to the idea of an music ensemble that is accessible and inclusive. I want the Mezzo Orchestra to be a fun and welcoming space, where orchestral musicians of all backgrounds are given an opportunity to grow musically and relax in a social atmosphere outside of academia. I sincerely hope that Mezzo Orchestra has been exactly that; if not, I'll keeping trying my very best!
Orchestra has been such a big part of my life ever since I joined my first one seven years ago, and I've had my fair share of experience of leadership in an ensemble setting --- initially as viola section leader (2020-2023) to president (2021-2023) of my high school's String Orchestra. I'm dedicated to ensuring that you have an enjoyable and hassle-free experience during your time with the Mezzo Orchestra! (Except for practicing. That you have to do on your own... Sorry...)
