Hello there! My name is Matthew, and I am running for Equipment Officer for the Music Society this year.  You might know me through different groups in the society, like the Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, or String Orchestra, where my role varies between timpanist, percussionist, trumpeter, etc... and you probably often find me in the music cupboard trying (or struggling) to get the timpani out. Hence, I know it is a great challenge trying to fit all the equipment the society has into a room that is probably way smaller than your accommodation room. And as a musician who plays arguably one of the largest instruments (timpani) in an orchestra alongside the double bass, I would like to do my best to accommodate everyone's needs for equipment and also look after them.

In terms of experience,  my previous job involved a lot of equipment handling and auditing, so I am familiar with the process.  And some more musically specific experiences include:  I have volunteered to help with cleaning up the Music cupboard in term 1, where we reorganised equipment and music sheets in the room to hopefully provide more direct access to material.  I am also involved in other music societies, such as the Musical Theatre and Live Music  Society, which also requires a lot of equipment setting up and handling. This can also be a perfect opportunity for me to get to know some other music equipment in the whole UCL as an equipment officer.

I look forward to meeting and working with all of you guys!
