Election post
Starting university is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. As a First Year Representative, my primary goal is to ensure that every new student — no matter their course — feels connected and fully supported in all the incredible events the Life Sciences Society offers.
If elected I would aim to:
1. First-Year Connects: Community is a crucial part of university life. I will introduce small, informal socials for first-years to meet peers and form cross-course friendships, ensuring no one misses out on the fun community spirit.
2. Advocating for Diverse Career Pathways: I will expand career events by advocating for panels that explore less-represented sectors in Life Sciences, such as Biotech, Medical Writing, and Policy. This will help first-years explore diverse opportunities and shape their future careers.
3. Direct Representation and Feedback: I will act as a direct link between first-years and the committee, establishing open communication through anonymous polls and monthly check-ins for feedback and suggestions. This will ensure that both social and academic events are shaped around what first-years genuinely need.
I am ready to be an enthusiastic, reliable voice that helps every first-year expand their network, enhance their career prospects, and become an essential part of the Life Sciences community.
