Hi, my name is Isobel Taylor and I’m a 2nd year Politics and International Relations Student. As a Politics student, I have a good understanding of the concerns students might have surrounding Political Science careers and their future prospects.

I have previously campaigned in the 2024 General Election and Local Elections, which involved canvassing, speaking to people about their political concerns and how their local politicians can help.

I currently work in Parliament one day a week for an MP, which involves responding to constituents’ enquiries regarding Government policy. This gives me great insight into what the current Government policy positions are, and what citizens in my area are most concerned about.

The Government and Politics Society wants to de-gatekeep political opportunities to students, and I feel this strongly aligns with my values, and the experiences I have will be useful for members. I’m passionate about sharing my experiences working in Politics with other students, so they can be given opportunities to gain work experience and internships. This will help students to discover their interests and start their career.

I’m applying for the position of Treasurer because I understand that in order to run successful events, we need to make sure we have active members and sufficient funds. I am an organised, disciplined person and I believe I can effectively keep track of the Society’s funds.
