Cosima Wiltshire

Hi! My name is Cosima, I am currently interim President of Government and Politics Society and am running to be officially elected into the role!

I wish to officially become Government and Politics Society’s President, as I am incredibly passionate about de-mystifying, and de-gatekeeping politics for students at UCL, and believe if elected, I can forge GovPolSoc into a platform that will do just that!

As someone who has worked in the political sphere for the past six years as an advocate, both within the UK, and internationally (EU, UN, Australia), I know just how hard it is to make your way in politics and IR,  and how confusing it can be!!

As President, I will work to develop GovPolSoc into a bridge between those studying, interested , and working in politics  - to foster professional connections and opportunity, as well as knowledge and academic debate across all areas of politics and international relations.

During my time as interim President so far, I have worked with our interim committee to lead exactly this, with our taster sessionn, and upcoming panel, ‘A Civil Servant’s Guide to Whitehall’, which will host senior civil servants across the Treasury, FCDO, and Home Office to answer all your burning questions!

Moving forward, I will  create increasingly regular events,  provide meaningful opportunities,  and expand the society in line with the wishes of our members to ensure GovPolSoc embodies politics for and by our students, and welcoming platform for all!
