I’m standing for First Year Representative because I want to be actively involved in shaping our experience as Politics students at UCL. Having grown up in a divided capital, I’ve always been drawn to understanding how politics impacts people’s lives, and I see the Government and Politics Society as an open space where that curiosity can turn into collaboration and conversation. I’d love to help create an inclusive environment where everyone, whether they’re deeply into politics or just starting to explore it, feels comfortable engaging in discussions and events.
Through my experience in the European Youth Parliament, Model European Parliament and involvement in my school magazine, I’ve developed strong communication and organisational skills that I’d possess in this this role. My outgoing personality and character are key assets that aid me in bringing people together, sharing ideas and creating opportunities for others to get involved, whether that’s through panel events, socials, or discussions that connect what we study with real-world politics.
As First Year Rep, I’d make sure our voices are heard and that we feel genuinely represented within the society. I want to help bridge the gap between students and the committee, ensuring feedback and ideas are always acted on. Above all, I want to contribute to a community that’s dynamic, open-minded and engaged with the world beyond campus - one that reflects why so many of us chose to study politics in the first place.
