Candidates

Haziq Kaja Moinudeen

hey everyone :)

I’m Haziq, I study neuroscience and synthetic organic chemistry, and yes, I’m aware that combination sounds like a cry for help

I joined FemTech & Women’s Health because I actually think women’s health is one of the coolest and most overlooked areas in science. I’m especially into endometriosis (yes, I know that’s niche, no, I won’t shut up about it 😌). I plan to do my PhD in this field (because apparently I don’t believe in job security) since I refuse to accept that “try another progestin” is the height of innovation. Growing up in India (well till I was 8 but I was perceptive okk?) I saw how social and economic barriers make these issues worse, which got me interested in low-cost interventions and research that actually reaches patients

Outside uni, I’ve volunteered in refugee shelters, soup kitchens, and teaching programs, so organising people and snacks is kind of my default skill set (I will 100% bribe you with matcha for attendance)

If elected, I’d organise hackathons , Kaggle style, using public women’s health datasets so we can learn, code, and contribute to something meaningful (no one’s leaving until we solve the gender data gap). I’d also run journal clubs led by PhD students or postdocs, book clubs for a wider audience, and chill socials because balance is important (don’t ask when I last touched grass 🤥). I’d also bring in sociologists and anthropologists to unpack the cultural context of women’s health disparities and how they shape research today

Frozan Rasuli

Hey everyone, my name is Frozan and I'm a second-year Applied Medical student. I first discovered this society while I was looking around the Fresher's fair this year and it instantly caught my eye! have always been deeply passionate about women’s health. Having personally experienced how women’s voices can sometimes be dismissed, I am committed to this vital area of Medicine and ensuring it receives the attention it needs.

I have actively volunteered in healthcare and community settings, helping to support and educate diverse groups about health and wellbeing. This includes educating girls in Afghanistan who have no access to formal education about basic topics that are often considered taboo. This experience showed me the importance of breaking stigmas and advocating for women’s health on a global scale.

A few events I would love to bring include:

🙋‍♀️ Q&A & Panel Discussions with doctors and researchers in women’s health

🧠 FemTech Innovation Workshops showcasing emerging technologies and hands-on learning.

💆‍♀️ Self-Care & Wellbeing Workshops focusing on mindfulness, stress management, and physical wellbeing.

🍕 Fun Socials to bring the society together so we can learn, share, and grow as a community!

I want our society to be a space that shares knowledge, and empowers students while also being welcoming, fun, and inclusive. I would love to serve as your Events Officer, helping make the society dynamic, impactful, and a true voice for women’s health in Medicine! 🌸💗
