Corryn Watt

Hi everyone! My name is Corryn Watt and I am running for Social Secretary for the Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarianism Society. This year, I have had the true pleasure of working alongside Carmen Wallace as your (unofficial) social secretaries! Through organising events such as the pub quiz, cupcake decorating event, picnic, and more, I have seen the changes and joy that we can create through even the smallest community events. As your social secretary, I promise to continue promoting events that allow us to build a community where everyone feels safe, connected, and valued.

As a third year GHS student, I hold a strong passion for DRR and humanitarianism and want to share it throughout UCL and beyond, highlighting not only its importance, but also the power of people coming together. With your support, I hope to create even more opportunities for us to connect, learn, and celebrate our amazing society!

Mirielle Ofori

My favourite position in secondary school was being one of two Social Reps and getting to coordinate and plan events. I found everything, from feedback to making the next event better to picking out the tablecloths and menus used for a supper, extremely thrilling and motivating in my role. That experience taught me how much a well-organised event, no matter how silly or formal, can be quite the highlight in someone’s calendar.

I am running as Social Secretary to bring that energy to our department to have fun, engaging and beneficial events planned for us, some specifically for us and others in collaboration with other societies to reflect our department's interdisciplinary nature. I’d love to organise a balance of academic and social activities and I would listen to what RDR members want whether it's more cupcake decorating, study groups or excursions so that events reflect our collective interests and ensure everyone has an event they feel excited to attend.

Carmen Wallace

Hey everyone! It’s Carmen here! You may have already seen me around helping to organise events with Corryn, but I’m now officially running for DRRH Social Secretary!

Over the past few months, I’ve helped plan and run some amazing events, like the pub quiz, cupcake decorating, picnic and I’m currently working with Corryn on the annual Winter Ball! Being involved in these events has shown me just how much joy and community can come from shared moments.

I want to continue building that sense of connection within DRRH by planning more fun, inclusive socials where we can all take a breather from uni stress and just enjoy being together. I hope we can plan more events to bring people together and create a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, and part of something special.

If elected, I promise to prioritise inclusivity, creativity, wellbeing, and lots of fun in every event making sure DRRH stays a place where friendships grow, ideas thrive, and everyone feels at home.
