Hii everyone, I’m Ishlene! I’m applying for the Welfare Officer role because I genuinely enjoy creating safe and welcoming spaces while supporting the people around me. During my bachelors, I was both student rep and President for my course-led society, where I organised social events, booked and managed venues while making sure members felt safe and included. These roles strengthened my communication and organisational skills, and taught me how to check in with people, listen to concerns and help maintain a positive atmosphere. I also completed student training and hold a valid Food & Safety Hygiene certificate, which helped me ensure that events were ran safely and responsibly.
As welfare officer, I’d focus on making every BubbleTea Society event feel friendly, accessible and relaxed for all members and committee. I want to create a space where new and returning students feel welcome from the start. I’m also keen to plan charity and volunteering events such as collaborating with Local Bubble tea shops to fundraise for causes like global hunger and support the homeless.
Students should vote for me because I’m approachable, reliable and committed to student wellbeing. I’m organised, proactive and always willing to support others, and I’d work hard to make sure everyone feels safe, included and valued within the society :)
