Name of Event: London Chinese New Year 2019 – Year of the Pig

Volunteer Role:  Come join us to celebrate Chinese New Year in the most fun and exciting way! Get a look at the behind-the-scenes for one of the biggest annual festivals in central London, be a part of the London Chinese community and experience Chinese culture including food and performances at its finest. We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Stage, backstage and production support
  • VIP, Press, Media area management and support
  • Grand Parade steward/ assistants
  • Costume Mascots Team
  • Info Booth Team

The London Chinese New Year Celebrations is the largest outside of Asia and one of the biggest events in London - offering a feast of Chinese culture, food, music, dance and acrobatics. Hundreds of performers will dazzle audiences in Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and Charing Cross Road, both on stage and in a fantastic unique Grand Parade. 

This event is well publicised and is televised by London Live and other International channels, and it will be a fantastic opportunity to gain more experience in events and meet new friends from different backgrounds.

Volunteers will be required to report earlier for registration and preparations. Each volunteer will also receive a signed certificate of achievement and participation.

*Chinese language proficiency is useful but not necessary to apply for these roles.

When: Sunday 10 February, from 08:30 – 18:00. Full day shifts with flexible lunch and break times OR Half day AM or PM shifts

Where: Chinatown, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square

Volunteer places: 40-70 volunteers.
