This skills session is designed and delivered by Up Skill 4 Life. Established in 2009, Up Skill 4 Life drives a step change in people through the design and delivery of tailored, relevant and engaging training workshops. All of their workshops are underpinned by the core belief of never using slides.

Learning outcomes for this session will include: 

  • Identifying the qualities of an outstanding communicator
  • Communicating effectively in 1-2-1 and group situations
  • Reading people & situations – emotional intelligence competencies
  • Tailoring communications – one size will never fit all
  • The art of observing, listening and questioning
  • Synchronizing body language, words & behaviour
  • Don’t be aggressive, don’t be submissive – be assertive

This session will be delivered by Bakita Kasadha. Bakita is a writer, personal development trainer and HIV campaigner. She particularly focuses on capacity building within the third sector/civil society and ethical engagement of volunteers and advocates. She has been running skills workshops at UCL since 2015. She is currently studying a masters in Anthropology and Community Development at Goldsmiths.
