This skills session is designed and delivered by Up Skill 4 Life. Established in 2009, Up Skill 4 Life drives a step change in people through the design and delivery of tailored, relevant and engaging training workshops. All of their workshops are underpinned by the core belief of never using slides.

Learning outcomes for this session will include: 

  • Exploring the impact of difficult situations – positive & negative
  • What stops us from dealing with difficult situations effectively?
  • Executing the 3Cs – confidence, credibility & communication
  • Creative thinking - developing innovative solutions to problems
  • Balancing the urgency to act with the need to be thorough
  • Exploring Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & positive thinking
  • Developing the right mind set for dealing with difficult situations
  • Taking tough decisions
  • Dealing with setbacks confidently

This session will be delivered by Bakita Kasadha. Bakita is a writer, personal development trainer and HIV campaigner. She particularly focuses on capacity building within the third sector/civil society and ethical engagement of volunteers and advocates. She has been running skills workshops at UCL since 2015. She is currently studying a masters in Anthropology and Community Development at Goldsmiths.
