Notting Hill Carnival is a standout event in London’s cultural calendar. It is the largest celebration of Caribbean culture in Europe, visited by over a million Londoners and tourists each year and the second largest street event in the world.
The Carnival Champions is a volunteer programme giving the opportunity for members of our local community and pan London to be involved in both the preparations and operations across the carnival weekend. Their role will be to welcome and assist visitors across the weekend, and to impart some of their local knowledge to visitors travelling from across the UK and the world.
The aim is to maintain a Carnival that is organised by and for the community, encouraging engagement from residents and to celebrate the local area and culture.
A Carnival Champion should be enthusiastic, helpful and approachable. You should enjoy working within a fast paced and exciting environment, be comfortable socialising and communicating with a vast range of people and most importantly be passionate about your community and the ethos of Notting Hill Carnival.
As a Carnival Champion you will be given training, learn practical skills such as health and safety. You can use your new skills to find a job, or be inspired by your experience as a Carnival Champion to continue volunteering.
